More CCTVs at Sibu food court to curb thefts

SIBU: More closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) will be installed at Taman Muhibbah Food Court to enhance security.

Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said that the decision was made to address the never-ending thefts at the food court.

“After conducting a reinspection of the Taman Muhibbah Food Court and discussions with the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), we have decided to install more surveillance cameras and upgrade the existing monitoring system to ensure comprehensive surveillance of every corner of the food centre,” he said in his official Facebook account recently.

Tiang said there are also plans to establish a monitoring room to improve surveillance efficiency and ensure timely detection and handling of any suspicious activities.

“Through these measures, we hope to significantly reduce thefts and ensure that businesses and customers at the Taman Muhibbah Food Court can enjoy a safer and more secure environment.

“This is not only a commitment I made when the Taman Muhibbah Food Court opened but also a demonstration of our responsibility for community safety,” he added.
