Motorist fined RM500 for littering from 4WD in Sibu

SIBU: A motorist has been fined RM500 by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) after a video of him throwing rubbish from his four-wheel drive vehicle went viral.
The man was called to the council office on Sunday (April 9) where chairman Clarence Ting and his deputy, Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Rosely together with enforcement officers were waiting for him.
After paying the fine, he apologised to the council.
"SMC enforcement officers will knock on your door, and serve you a RM500 fine. You also risk getting your vehicle confiscated if you are caught committing such an offence on video or photographed disposing of rubbish indiscriminately in public," said Izkandar.
He said the council could easily trace the offender by identifying the vehicle registration number.A
