SIBU (Feb 7): Part of the upgrading works at Permai Lake Garden here costing more than RM3 million is expected to be completed this October, said Clarence Ting.

The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman pointed out that the works will include the addition of a 3km cycling track on top of the walking track upgrades to benefit the public.

“This package costing RM3.388 million will be completed in October 2023,” he said, referring to Package 1 of the works.

The package is part of a major upgrade planned for Permai Lake Garden at a total cost of RM8 million that will take three years to complete.

“I hope the public will follow safety instructions set by the council during the construction period,” Ting said in a Facebook post yesterday.

For the record, Permai Lake Garden, a recreational park built next to Permai housing estate, was opened to the public in 2002.

It is an extremely popular spot for joggers and those looking to go for a brisk walk. It also caters to various recreational and social activities, including remote-control boat races and family days.
