Welcome New Year with much cheer at town square

THE New Year 2023 countdown in Sibu, Sarawak will feature songs, dances as well as fireworks display at the town square.

A number of artistes and singers from the state will add merriment to the event which starts at 7pm on Dec 31.

They include Ramles Walter, Melissa Francis, Hyperact, K-Clique, AT Adau, Chieng Chieng Ng and Raquet Then.

Also performing are DJ Azwan, Dyanne Oshield, Christina Tou Yee Yee, War Drum, Sapeh Paradise, Major Minor, Swan D and Danger Crew.

Speaking at a press conference, countdown organising chairman and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) councillor Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar said the celebration would start with a prize-giving ceremony for the Christmas tree competition.

“Stage performances from local and foreign artists are expected to start at 8.15pm,” he said, adding that SMC chairman Clarence Ting would be present.

“The countdown will culminate with a 10-minute fireworks display,” said Mohammed Abdullah, who invited everyone to usher in 2023 at the event.
