SIBU : The 13th Jubilee Park Sarawak Health Marathon is postponed to May 12 due to the coming 13th General Election.
Chairman of Kelab Sukan Marathon Extreme (KSME), Sibu Tang Kah Seng said the time and venue remained the same. The event was supposed to be held on May 5.
“Because it clashed with election, it is best for us to change the date to May 12. On that day, participants must report at the counter at 6am and the flag off is at 6.30am,” he said on the event which is to be flagged off by Dato Wong Kuok Hea.
“Those interested could still submit the form as the closing date is on April 30,” Tang said during the sponsorship handing over ceremony held at Ta Ann Holdings Bhd office yesterday.
Over 1,000 runners from throughout the country including seasoned runners from the Peninsula are expected to participate in the event which is divided into six categories namely the 21km Men and Ladies Open and Men’s Veteran and the 7km Ladies Veteran, Boys and Girls Junior.
The 7km Fun Run is open to those interested to join the run just for fun.
Entry fee is only RM20 for Men & Ladies Open, Men & Ladies Veteran and Fun Run while for the Boys 7 Girls Junior, the entrance fee is RM10.
Entry forms are available from SMSC c/o Chai Lai Cafe, 35, Sanyan Road.
Winners in the 21km Men’s Veteran, Men and Ladies Open will get each receive RM900 plus trophy while first runners-up will get RM750 plus trophy and second runners-up will get RM600 plus trophy.
The fourth placing will get RM450 plus medal, fifth placing RM350 plus medal, 6th placing RM250, 7th placing RM200 and 8th to 10th will get RM180.
The 11th to 20th finishers will get RM100 each, 21st to 30th finishers will get RM80 each and 31st to 50th finishers will get RM50 each.
In the Ladies Open and Men’s Veteran, only the 31st to 35th finishers will get RM50 while RM150 will be given to the youngest man and lady who qualified for the 21km category.
For the winners in the Ladies Veteran, Boys & Girls Junior, the champion will get RM300 plus medal, first runners-up will get RM250 plus medal, second runners-up will get RM200 plus medal and third runners-up will get RM150 plus medal.
The fifth placings will get RM120 plus medal, 6th placings RM100, 7th placings RM90 and 8th to 10th finishers will get RM80 each.
The 11th to 20th finishers will get RM60 each, 21st to 30th finishers will get RM40 each and 31st to 50th finishers will get RM30 each.
However, for Ladies veteran, only the 31st to 40th finishers will get RM30 each.
