SIBU (June 15): Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting has called on all council staff to give their full support to the acting secretary Sait Enggang, who steps into the role following the retirement of former secretary Yong Ing Chu.
Ting emphasized that such cooperation is vital to maintain SMC’s strong performance in service delivery and in meeting public expectations.
“I would like to welcome our new acting secretary, with whom we will be working very closely. This is particularly important as SMC undergoes a leadership transition,” said Ting during the council’s ‘Ngiling Bidai’ ceremony, held at Permai Lake Garden Food Court on Saturday night.
“I hope everyone will extend the same support to Encik Sait as you did to Mr Yong. Without strong teamwork, we won’t be able to perform as effectively,” he told the staff present at the gathering.
Ting also expressed his hope that the gathering would strengthen the bond among staff and reignite their motivation to serve the people with dedication and integrity.
He added that the ngiling bidai ceremony symbolised the council’s unity, inclusivity, and deep appreciation for cultural heritage.
Ting also conveyed his gratitude to Councillor Augustine Merikan, who chaired the event’s organising committee, along with the entire organising team for their efforts in making the event a success.
