SIBU (March 26): The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is urging residents and business owners to switch to the smart meter system introduced by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) to enhance efficiency and transparency in electricity consumption.
SMC deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley, who personally switched to a smart meter after noticing inconsistencies in his electricity bills, fully supports the transition.
He highlighted the convenience of the SEB Cares app, which enables users to monitor electricity usage in real time and ensures accurate billing.
“Now everything is at my fingertips,” he said in a Facebook post.
Currently, SEB is rolling out its Customer Outreach Programme to introduce smart meters for residential and commercial properties in Sibu, with free installation provided.
“Through SMC and the Resident Councillorship System (RCS), we are actively informing the public about this initiative.
“This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a necessity for modern living,” added Izkandar.
For more information, individuals can visit SEB’s website or go to its designated service counters.
