SMC chairman Clarence Ting
SIBU (Dec 31): The Sibu Municipal Council’s (SMC) revenue counter at Level 19, Wisma Sanyan will go cashless starting Feb 3 next year, said its chairman Clarence Ting.
He said this is part of the council’s digitalisation efforts to bring more convenience to the public.
“We are going cashless and our revenue counter will only accept e-wallet payments,” he told reporters after the full council meeting yesterday.
The e-wallet payments include S Pay Global and DuitNow.
Adding on, Ting explained that the revenue counter collects miscellaneous payments, architect fees, tender documents fees, and drawing submission fees.
As for assessment rate payments, he said this could be conducted at UTC.
Meanwhile, during the full council meeting, SMC Christmas Festival organising chairman Councillor Simon Wee expressed gratitude to all participants of the Christmas tree decoration contest.
